Dr. Robert Lemmon, Jr., the son of Robert M. Lemmon, Sr., started operating a printing press at the age of fourteen. Raised in a Pastor’s home, Bobby received the Lord Jesus as Saviour at ten years old, then surrendered his life to Christian service five years later. Brother Bobby served under his Dad’s pastorate in many capacities, including choir director, youth leader, and assistant pastor. In 1968, he and his father founded the Bible and Literature Missionary Foundation, and began printing the Scriptures for free foreign distribution. In 2007, when Dr. Bob Lemmon, Sr. went to Heaven, Robert, Jr. became BLMF’s Director. He and his wife, Linda, along with their four children with their families, serve at the ministry’s sending church, Victory Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN. He still presents BLMF when available and faithfully works at the print shop. Dr. Lemmon counts it an honor to have been called by the Lord into the Bible-printing ministry, believing it is the responsibility of the local church to get the Word of God into the hands of those in need on the foreign field.
Brother Shannon Lemmon is the third generation of the Lemmon family in The Bible and Literature Missionary Foundation. He was blessed to have been raised in the print shop, viewing the unshakable faith and dedication of the ministry’s founders: his father, Dr. Bobby Lemmon, Jr.. and grandfather, Dr. Bob Lemmon, Sr. At the age of 28, the Lord called Shannon back to BLMF, actually being rehired by his grandfather just two days prior to his Heavenly home-going. Shannon, with his family, travels the nation preaching and presenting this great work. Brother Lemmon is passionate about the Bible-printing ministry, believing it fulfills one of the greatest endeavors the Lord has given: printing His Precious Word for the lost and saved in need around the world.
Rob Allen’s Testimony
(Representative with Bible & Literature Missionary Foundation)
I grew up in church and in a Christian home, but did not get saved until the age of 18 on September 12, 1999. I had made a profession of faith when I was 8 years old, but only went forward because some of my friends went forward. I didn’t have any idea why I was going forward, so I went along with everything the worker said to me. I knew how a Christian ought to act, so I did the best I could at doing that, but there was never any change in my heart. In the early summer of 1999, after graduating high school, I began to really struggle with doubts about my salvation, but just explained them away by telling myself I was saved because I went forward when I was 8 years old. However, the doubts continued.
I can remember it like it was yesterday. It was in the AM service on September 12, 1999 at Faith Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN that our Youth Pastor was preaching about pretending to be a Christian. God used that message to get a hold of my heart and convict me of my need for salvation. I went forward as quick as I could when the invitation started and was taken to a side room where my dad gave me the plan of salvation. I bowed my head in prayer and in faith asked Jesus Christ to be my Savior and to forgive me of my sins. In that very moment, I knew a change had taken place in my heart and that I truly was saved, and I have never doubted it. I was baptized 2 weeks later by full immersion in our church baptistry.
In November 2000, God used some difficult circumstances in my life to get a hold of my heart and convict me of my need to surrender my life to Him. I surrendered my life to the Lord and knew He was calling me to full-time Christian service. After much prayer and counsel from my Pastor and Assistant Pastor, I believed God was calling me to Ambassador Baptist College in Lattimore, NC to study Bible and Music, believing God was calling me to the Youth and Music ministry. It was at Ambassador that I also met the one that God chose to be my wife, Jennifer. After graduating from Ambassador in May 2005, we were married 3 weeks later and I immediately accepted the position of Music Director at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Winchester, VA under Pastor David Martin. I also taught high school classes in their Christian academy.
After 6 years there, in July 2011, God moved us back to the church I grew up in and was saved in - Faith Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN - to take over the position of Youth Pastor. I served there for 8 years under Pastor Charles Redmond. It was during my time there that God opened the door for me to work a couple days each week at the Bible & Literature Missionary Foundation in Shelbyville, TN as the Binder Operator. I began that in February 2018. In February 2019, God began to work in my heart about traveling as a representative for this great ministry. Through much prayer with my wife, and much counsel from my Pastor, we believed that was definitely the direction God was leading us. We spoke with Bro. Bobby Lemmon, the director of BLMF, and shared my testimony with the Board of Directors. They agreed and I became a full-time representative for the ministry.
I am so thankful for the ministry God has called our family to. It is our desire to make churches aware of the need for Bibles across the world, and how by supporting this great ministry and the work it does of printing and shipping God Word all over the Word, together we can accomplish the goal of getting a copy of God’s Word into the hands of every person in the world. It is our desire that every person in the world receive their very own copy of the Word of God, and we’re asking your church to help us in that endeavor.
Brother Maxie Smith was given his first Bible on his twenty-second birthday. It was a gift from a Christian young lady, who also invited him to a Baptist church. It was at this church that Maxie received Jesus Christ as his Saviour in 1962. Ten years later, Brother Smith was impressed by the Holy Spirit to start a bus ministry after hearing a sermon by Brother Bobby Roberson. He served twenty-one years at the Baux Mountain Baptist Church, and then moved to Virginia to train churches in the bus ministry. Brother Smith has served in six churches in Virginia and West Virginia, starting bus ministries in each of them. He presently serves in the bus ministry at Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Stoneville, NC. Maxie has also been involved in the discipleship of new converts for forty-three years. He will now be presenting BLMF, sharing the global need of God’s Word with churches in America.
Brother Phil Jones was saved in March of 1970 and married to Ms. Betty Jo Powers in the following. June. While traveling in the Army, Brother Jones was able to serve the Lord in various capacities in several churches. He met Dr. Bob Lemmon, Sr.(BLMF founder) as a student at Southeast Fundamental Baptist College in Madison, Alabama in 1995. Seeing the importance of the printed Word and the needs for funds to print and distribute the Scriptures, Phil began presenting BLMF to churches in northern Alabama and middle Tennessee. His family joined Victory Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN in 1997, and Brother Jones again serves as a representative of BLMF. His desires are to be used by God, assist in the distribution of His Word to various mission fields globally, and to raise support for BLMF.
Brother Houston Buchanan has been married to Ms. Anita for 52 years. They have been friends with the Lemmon family (BLMF founders) for over 30 years. He stands with BLMF because he believes it is a ministry which honors Psalm 68:11 and allows others to fulfill Mark 16:15 and Matthew 28:18-20. While Brother Buchanan pastored at Faith Baptist Church in Estill Springs, TN, the Lord impressed him to only support BLMF financially, but also to represent the ministry. He says, “BLMF is a ministry that a church can not only support, but in which it also can be actively involved.” Brother Buchanan is grateful for the opportunity to share BLMF with pastors and churches.
