Brother Shannon Lemmon is the third generation of the Lemmon family in The Bible and Literature Missionary Foundation. He was blessed to have been raised in the print shop, viewing the unshakable faith and dedication of the ministry’s founders: his father, Dr. Bobby Lemmon, Jr.. and grandfather, Dr. Bob Lemmon, Sr. At the age of 28, the Lord called Shannon back to BLMF, actually being rehired by his grandfather just two days prior to his Heavenly home-going. Shannon, with his family, travels the nation preaching and presenting this great work. Brother Lemmon is passionate about the Bible-printing ministry, believing it fulfills one of the greatest endeavors the Lord has given: printing His Precious Word for the lost and saved in need around the world.
I grew up in church and in a Christian home, and was saved on September 12, 1999. In November 2000, I surrendered my life to the Lord and knew He was calling me to full-time Christian service. I later attended Ambassador Baptist College in Lattimore, NC to study Bible and Music, believing God was calling me to the Youth and Music ministry. It was at Ambassador that I also met my wife, Jennifer. After graduating from Ambassador in May 2005, we were married 3 weeks later and I immediately accepted the position of Music Director at Lighthouse Baptist in Winchester, VA, also teaching high school classes in their Christian academy. After 6 years, in July 2011, God moved us back to the church in which I grew up and was saved - Faith Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN - to take over the position of Youth Pastor. While serving there, God opened the door for me to work a couple days each week at BLMF in as the Binder Operator in February 2018. By February 2019, God began to work in my heart about traveling as a representative for this great ministry. Through much prayer with my wife, and much counsel from my Pastor, we believed that was definitely the direction God was leading us. I am so thankful for the ministry God has called our family to. It is our desire to make churches aware of people’s need for Bibles, and how by supporting this great ministry and the work it does of printing and shipping God Word all over the Word, together we can accomplish the goal of getting a copy of God’s Word into the hands of every needful person.
My wife and I came to know Jesus at the age of 26 at Trinity Baptist Church in Milton FL.
We served in that church for 20 years until God called us to the Dominican Republic as missionaries serving 8 years and (God ) established an independent fundamental Baptist Church. The Lord then called us home to serve as pastor of my sending church for 14 years. My wife would go to be with the Lord in March of 2019, I would resign as pastor in 2021 and now serve in helps ministries and as a representative for BLMF. To God be the glory great things He has done.
After 40 years in God's service as support staff, Assistant Pastor and Senior Pastor for two Churches, I stepped down by the leading of the Lord. Upon hearing this, Bobby Lemmon Jr., Director of BLMF, invited my wife Debbie & I to become Field Representatives. My heart leaped! Being the Pastor of a supporting Church, I fell in love with this Ministry. It has been my honor & privilege to now serve God in this capacity for the last six years.
Brother Phil Jones was saved in March of 1970 and married to Ms. Betty Jo Powers in the following. June. While traveling in the Army, Brother Jones was able to serve the Lord in various capacities in several churches. He met Dr. Bob Lemmon, Sr.(BLMF founder) as a student at Southeast Fundamental Baptist College in Madison, Alabama in 1995. Seeing the importance of the printed Word and the needs for funds to print and distribute the Scriptures, Phil began presenting BLMF to churches in northern Alabama and middle Tennessee. His family joined Victory Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN in 1997, and Brother Jones again serves as a representative of BLMF. His desires are to be used by God, assist in the distribution of His Word to various mission fields globally, and to raise support for BLMF.
Brother Houston Buchanan has been married to Ms. Anita for 52 years. They have been friends with the Lemmon family (BLMF founders) for over 30 years. He stands with BLMF because he believes it is a ministry which honors Psalm 68:11 and allows others to fulfill Mark 16:15 and Matthew 28:18-20. While Brother Buchanan pastored at Faith Baptist Church in Estill Springs, TN, the Lord impressed him to only support BLMF financially, but also to represent the ministry. He says, “BLMF is a ministry that a church can not only support, but in which it also can be actively involved.” Brother Buchanan is grateful for the opportunity to share BLMF with pastors and churches.
With salvation came a desire to please and to serve the Savior that had died for my sins. Soon after beginning to visit with Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Stoneville, NC in search of a home church for my family, I was told by Brother Maxie Smith that he was going to put me and my family into the bus ministry with him. With time came church membership and a close friendship with Brother Maxie. Through this friendship and mentoring I became aware or his work with BLMF. Not long after, Maxie became sick and eventually went home to meet our Lord. Due to my great love for the perfect Word of God and respect for one of the Godliest men I had ever known, I made it my goal was to see this work continue. Once I had begun to get more familiar with the ministry and especially the Godly people that make up the BLMF, it was clear that this was the direction God was taking me. It is my sincere belief that support for this ministry should have a place in every Independent Baptist Church in the country. God blesses faithfulness. God blesses obedience. God blesses the spreading of the Gospel. God blesses His Holy Bible. What greater ministry than one that embodies all of these things.
I am a 20-year veteran of the USAF. While in the Air Force stationed in Spain, I was lead to the Lord by an American missionary. From that point on in time, by the grace of God, I have taught Sunday school, served in the van ministry, as well as an usher, a deacon, a trustee, and a maintenance person around the church. I attend visitation, pass out tracts, and preach. Being educated with an MA in Pastoral Ministry, I am thankful to live for Christ. Remembering and not forgetting what happened in Spain by that missionary has fueled my love and passion to be a representative/missionary for BLMF. The Bible is a lifeline to the world to mature and lead others to the Lord. I have been married for 38 years; we have one son and three grandchildren. My hobbies are staying busy for BLMF, grilling/smoking food, gardening/yard work, and helping others.
We have been preaching and serving the Lord for forty-five years, twenty of which we pastored. God has put a deep burden on our hearts to help print and pass out the Word of God worldwide! We also play bluegrass Gospel and have traveled hundreds of thousands of miles meeting the best Churches and Pastors in the world! We would to love to come to your Church to share this tremendous ministry!
